Welcome to URI's Digital Forensics Center
The University of Rhode Island (URI) Digital Forensics Center (DFC) provides services, research, and training in issues involving digital data discovery, recovery, and analysis. This includes the analysis of hard drives for evidence in civil and administrative cases, analysis of network activity, recovery of lost data, and research and testimony on technical issues.
The DFC is a non-profit collaborative center comprised of university faculty and staff. DFC personnel include experts in computer forensics, computer science, computer networks, computer and network security, and data recovery. The DFC was established in 2004 with a grant from the US National Science Foundation. Since then it has provided digital forensics services to attorneys, businesses, government agencies, law enforcement, and individuals. It also has provided data recovery services to organizations and individuals.
